America’s Got Talent judge has ‘never felt more like a woman’ since coming out
America’s Got Talent judge Julianne Hough has opened up about how good she has felt since coming out as “not straight”.
Hough revealed that she came out to her husband – NHL player Brooks Laich – a few months into their marriage in an interview for the September issue of Women’s Health.
“I [told him], ‘You know I’m not straight, right?’ And he was like, ‘I’m sorry, what?’ I was like, ‘I’m not. But I choose to be with you,’” she told the magazine.
Julianne Hough says she has “never felt more like a woman” since coming out.
Now, Hough has opened up further about her sexuality in an interview with People.
I have never felt more like a woman in my life, and I’ve always been the girl next door, all-American sweetheart.
“This is the first time I feel like I’m not just trying to push it or perform it,” she said.
“It’s like, no, this is just for me and this is my voice and my truth, and I’m so excited to just speak from that place.”
She added: “I have never felt more like a woman in my life, and I’ve always been the girl next door, all-American sweetheart.
“That’s a version and a part of me, but it’s not all of who I am, and I didn’t even know that about me.”
The 31-year-old star recently dropped her first song in nearly a decade, called ‘Transform’, in which she sings about loving herself.
After Hough opened up about her sexuality last month, her brother Derek Hough, who is a judge on reality competition show World of Dance, shared a message of support.
Taking to Instagram, he wrote: “Proud of you @juleshough. A beautiful article about shedding the protective walls that can imprison us.
“A stunning artistic representation capturing the courage of realising your true essence and strength. Unleashing your freedom. ??”
She replied: “Love you so much D for always being my greatest supporter! ❤️❤️❤️”
