The cousin of Trump’s gay mentor just gave a damning indictment of the president

Roy Cohn was a mentor of Donald Trump, a lawyer, and was also a gay man who died at the age of 49 from AIDS-related complications in 1986.
Now, Cohn’s cousin has delivered a damning indictment of Trump – and said Cohn would have been appalled by Trump’s “obsequious devotion” to Vladimir Putin.
Cohn’s cousin, David L Marcus, made the comments about Donald Trump in an article for Politico.
In the article, Marcus writes that Cohn had “almost no principles” – but that he was certain of the fact that Russia and America are enemies.
Cohn would have hated Trump’s relationship with Russia.
Marcus believes Cohn would have been “pleased” to see his protégé become president – but would have hated Trump’s relationship with Russia.
“In his nasal tone, Roy would warn that Putin follows the Soviet playbook by interfering with elections in Western Europe; invading sovereign nations such as Ukraine; and assassinating dissidents and journalists,” Marcus writes.
Marcus claims to know how his cousin would have felt about Trump’s relations with Russia because he became “intimately familiar” with his views while he was alive.
Roy would be horrified at the president praising Putin as a ‘terrific person’ and ‘strong leader’.
Cohn would try to justify various unethical things he had done, Marcus writes – but insists that he was unequivocal when it came to Russia.
If he were alive today, Marcus believes Cohn would blast Trump for “cozying up” to Putin.
“Roy would be horrified at the president praising Putin as a ‘terrific person’ and ‘strong leader’,” Marcus writes.

The article comes as Donald Trump has attracted renewed criticism from LGBT+ people after he said he “stands in solidarity” with the community in countries where being gay is illegal at the United Nations.
Trump made the claim despite the fact that his administration has rolled back policies that protect the LGBT+ community in the US.
Speaking at the United Nations, Trump said: “As we defend American values, we affirm the right of all people to live in dignity.
“For this reason, my administration is working with other nations to stop criminalising homosexuality and we stand in solidarity with LGBTQ people who live in countries that punish, jail or execute individuals based on sexual orientation.”
