Our lord and saviour Whoopi Goldberg had an explosive exchange with conservative co-host Meghan McCain on The View and LGBT+ Twitter can’t get enough.

Yesterday’s episode saw the hosts get on the topic of a military officer who has agreed to testify about US president Donald Trump’s Ukraine call.

Lieutenant Alexander Vindman, a top Ukraine expert on the National Security Council, twice registered internal objections about Trump and his inner circle’s treatment of the county.

Less than 15 minutes into the show, the discussion descended into fury from columnist McCain and fellow co-host Joy Behar.

‘Hold on, let me finish’: The View co-hosts clash live on air.

“Let’s take a breath,” Goldberg, an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony winner, said to McCain, who continued to chat.

“Hold on, let me finish,” she sharply asserted. “What I’m saying, everybody has something to say at the table.

“We really want to hear from everybody, but we’re starting to do that thing,” she explained as she interlocked her hands in a clashing motion.

“I don’t know what that means, this ‘thing’,” McCain questioned.

“It means you are talking over each other,” Goldberg responded.

To which McCain fired back: “Well, it’s The View.”

Whoopi Goldberg: ‘I’m not trying to cut you off, I’m trying to get you heard.’

Goldberg remained composed as she tried to diffuse the gridlock. But with her 12 years of experience helming the morning talkshow, she reminded McCain of how The View tends to run.

“It is The View, let me tell you something about The View. This show has always had the ability to have different points of view, which we respect around the table,” she said, zeroing in on McCain.

“When we talk to each other, we also exhibit respect. So, when I’m saying to you, ‘Hold up, because we’re not hearing each other,’ I’m not trying to cut you off, I’m trying to get you heard.”

McCain cuts into Goldberg, saying: “I don’t think you’re trying to cut me off but…”

A frustrated Goldberg is then forced to cut her off, instructing viewers: “But that’s what you’re doing right now, we’ll be back!”

‘As soon as her eyes went wide, I knew she was about to go in on her’: Twitter terrified by triumphant Whoopi Goldberg .

It was an Aristotelian tragedy in three parts to LGBT+ and Black Twitter. Countless users united in their adoration of Golderbeg’s cool composure throughout the discussion.

Though, as much as users flagged their admiration of the 63-year-old, others admitted that, deep down, it made them a little terrified:
