Gus Kenworthy isn’t only known for his skiing prowess – he’s also developed a name for himself online for his Halloween costumes, and this year he pulled out all the stops to live up to the hype.
The openly gay Olympic skier is currently playing Chet Clancy on American Horror Story: 1984, so he took the opportunity to dress up as his co-stars for Halloween.
Kenworthy enlisted the talents of the hair and make-up department on set to help him morph into the other characters on the show and shared the end-results on Instagram.
He shared photos of himself as Montana Duke, Margaret Booth, Xavier Plympton, Donna Chambers (AKA Nurse Rita), Trevor Kirchner and Chet Clancy from the new series of the horror anthology.
“A HUGE thank you to the hair and makeup girls for helping me play dress up with my costars’ stunt double wigs! HAPPY HALLOWEEN!” Kenworthy wrote on Instagram.

The athlete-turned-actor won praise from fans for the move.

This is not Kenworthy’s first viral Halloween moment. Last year he replicated fellow gay Olympian Adam Rippon’s famous Oscars outfit, which included a leather harness.
Kenworthy has won fans for his past Halloween costumes.
Kenworthy tweeted a photo of his recreation of Rippon’s famous Oscars look – and even replaced the image of an Academy Award in the background with a cut-out of a golden penis.
Rippon was a fan of the outfit. He replied to Kenworthy’s post at the time and wrote: “We finally did each other.”
While Kenworthy usually pulls out all the stops at Halloween, he hasn’t always been totally successful in his efforts. In 2015 he faced significant backlash when he wore a Native American headdress as a part of his costume.
He initially defended the costume, writing on Twitter: “Anddd for everyone giving me grief, I don’t really understand why this is racist or cultural appropriation – it’s Halloween! Just having fun!”
When Buzzfeed writer Matt Bellassai said he had unfollowed him over the costume, Kenworthy deleted the photo and wrote: “Didn’t realize I was being offensive & didn’t mean to marginalize or appropriate Native American culture. Sorry!”
