Regan Gascoigne, son of football legend Paul Gascoigne, just came out as bisexual
Regan Gascoigne, the son of football legend Paul Gascoigne, has publicly revealed he’s bisexual and he hasn’t told his dad “yet”, but knows he’ll be accepting.
The son of the soccer star, Regan, a 23-year-old dancer, has dated men in the past but hasn’t come out to his father.
He told the Sunday Mirror: “I’m bisexual, I date men and women. I’m really open about that.
“I haven’t had a lot of relationships though. I’ve only dated three people. I haven’t told my dad but I don’t think he will mind.
“He is proud of me whatever I do and whatever decisions I make.”
Regan Gascoigne: ‘He’s my dad, I’ll always love him.’
Regan has had a fractured relationship with his father.
While the pair don’t see much of one another since Paul and Sheryl Gascoigne split in 1999, they maintain a steady bond.
As a child, Regan spent his weekends at the Priory Hospital in Roehampton, England, where the ex-England professional player underwent rehab for alcohol, drugs and his mental health.
“I first realised dad had a problem with drink when I used to spend weekends in The Priory,” he said.
“Although that might sound weird, to have spent some of your childhood playing there, we did used to have some funny times.
“I would always play pranks. We have similar traits […] OCD being one of them.”
Years on, The Greatest Dancer contestant said he hasn’t seen his father in more than a year.
Nevertheless, the budding Broadway dancer remains balanced about his childhood: “The past is the past.
“He’s my dad, I’ll always love him and he’ll always love me no matter what.”
Moreover, he said that he and his father would watch Hocus Pocus together growing up. Maybe a father-son reunion will come in time for the sequel to the beloved Disney classic in the works.
