Homophobes often get upset at the most ridiculous things. They don’t like gay people getting married, they don’t like gay people having jobs. The list goes on and on.
Now, one woman has decided to add something new to that list: she doesn’t like her beautician having gay friends.
In a bizarre text exchange shared on Reddit, a beautician was fired by a religious woman because she found out that she hangs around with queer people.
In a lengthy text where the homophobic woman is clearly very upset, she tells her beautician that she felt compelled to reach out as something is making her “uneasy”.
The woman saw the beautician’s social media profile which showed her surrounded by “the wrong crowd” – a euphemism which apparently refers to the gay community.
Homophobe is ‘uncomfortable’ with gay people because of her involvement with her church.
“As you know, I am very involved with the church and it makes me extremely uncomfortable to be getting services by someone who is deeply involved with the gay community,” the homophobe wrote.
“I can no longer keep coming to you for my eyelash extensions and it’s so sad that it’s because of your choice of actions.
“I cannot give my money to you it would be against what I and my husband believe in.”
The homophobe ended her message by writing: “Maybe when you mature I could come back to you.”
The beautician – who is called Pam – could have backed down and pretended she doesn’t have gay friends to keep the woman’s custom, but she decided to take a different approach.
As you know, I am very involved with the church and it makes me extremely uncomfortable to be getting services by someone who is deeply involved with the gay community.
“I can certainly appreciate how you feel,” Pam replied.
“As you are allowed to have an opinion so am I. I am actually not surrounding myself with the ‘wrong crowd’. They are my friends and I love them so much and if I chose to show that love publicly that is a choice I’ve made and I have no shame.
“I am aware about where you stand with the church and I’ve respected that and I’ve respected everyone in the church as well.”
The beautician has been widely praised for her epic takedown.
She went on to tell her ex-client that she wants all her customers to feel safe.
“So if not coming to me makes you feel safe then I respect that,” Pam wrote.
Bizarrely, the woman replied and said she still wanted to keep her next appointment, presumably because she hadn’t found a replacement beautician before firing her current one.
Pam replied: “I’m sorry, but you already said you can no longer come to me. And in order to keep this a safe environment for everyone including yourself I think it’s best to refer you to someone else.”
Unsurprisingly, the text conversation has gone down a storm on Reddit where commenters have been quick to point out that the woman’s morals are seemingly “non-existent”.
Another pointed out that the story has a very important lesson.
“I think the moral of this particular story is to not let people’s sexuality or religion bother you.”
