Robyn Crawford breaks silence on her ‘physical’ relationship with Whitney Houston

Robyn Crawford has confirmed that she had a romantic and sexual relationship with the late Whitney Houston in a moving interview.
Seven years after the singer’s death Crawford’s memoir, titled A Song for You: My Life with Whitney Houston, is set to be published by Penguin Random House on November 12.
The book promises to “set the record straight” on the their relationship, but Crawford told NBC ahead of its release how their “intimate” relationship developed.
She said: “We were intimate on many levels and all I can say is that is was very deep and we were very connected.
“Our friendship was a deep friendship and in the early part of that friendship it was physical. It was during that first summer that we met, was the first time our lips touched.
“And it wasn’t anything planned, it just happened. And it felt wonderful. And then, not long after that, we spent the night together.
“And that evening was the night that we touched. And that just brought us closer together.”
Robyn Crawford said her relationship with Whitney Houston ended before the singer found fame.
Crawford said no one knew about the physical side of their relationship, and that it ended around the time that Houston’s career began to take off.
At the beginning of her iconic career Houston told Crawford that she thought they should not have a sexual relationship anymore.
She said: “The music business was a world that we were learning and we didn’t want anything to interfere with where she was going… I just felt that I wouldn’t be losing much. I still loved her the same, and she loved me and that was good enough.”
Asked why she wanted to share their story now, she said: “I watched her rise to the top of her game and I felt compelled to share who that woman was behind all of the fame.
“I never envisioned speaking publicly about my life and then I asked myself the question: ‘What would Whitney want? Would she understand that the time is now?'”
The pair were lifelong friends and their closeness caused rumours about their relationship throughout Houston’s career. Crawford now lives in New Jersey with her wife and children.
