In what is potentially the biggest plot twist in recorded human history, following years of anti-trans comments, Donald Trump Jr has come out in favour of gender-neutral facilities.
Yes, you read that right. No, you don’t need to schedule an eye exam.
Trump Jr has repeatedly pelted the trans community – denying that trans athletes should exist and mocking the community overall – so the left-field comment has come as a surprise.
In an interview on the right-wing talkshow Rubin Report yesterday, the eldest son of the president came out in support of abolishing the binary in bathrooms, albeit, to save money.
Single-sex bathrooms, in this economy?
“We’re real estate people,” he told host Dave Rubin.
“If I don’t have to build dual bathrooms, I could actually save a lot of money.”
Moreover, he called the concept “wonderful” as well as that he wishes that “everyone would share a bathroom” as “no once cares” what bathroom a trans person uses.
When it comes to the queer community, Trump Jr said his approach os “live and let live”.

Bathrooms have emerged in recent years as a battleground for trans rights. Activists have rallied for the right to have access to single-sex facilitates that align with their gender identity.
Moreover, campaigns have called on gender-neutral bathrooms in public spaces – such as schools and workplaces – which have jostled through the American court systems for years.
Some trans and non-binary people have celebrated victories, such as in Virginia where judges ruled that denying a trans person the right to use the facility of their true gender goes against the US Constitution.
But others have ended in death threats. Such as a school in Georgia u-turning its trans-inclusive policy after both staff and students were raked with serious safety concerns.

Trump Jr’s support for the measure comes during his tour for his new book, Triggered: How the Left Thrives on Hate and Wants to Silence Us.
The 304-page book contains a range of rants from the 41-year-old, such as about trans athletes.
“When we allow mediocre men to compete in women’s sports, we do a disservice to all the hardworking young women who have fought to get to where they are,” he wrote.
Trump Jr says that trans inclusion is about more than “just our sense of fairness and [the] lost scholarships [that are] on the line”, claiming that it can also pose a “safety issue”.
