Brexit Party disown candidate who ‘declared war’ on LGBT community and wanted to bury ‘Christ-rejecting creatures’

The Brexit Party has pulled its support from Scottish candidate Victor Farrell, who declared “war” on LGBT+ people in a series of bizarre online rants.

Farrell was the Brexit Party’s candidate for Glenrothes in Fife. His name will still appear on the ballot paper on December 12, but he has now been dropped by the party.

His offensive views about “perverts pushing sodomite rights” were revealed on Monday by SNP MSP Jenny Gilruth on Twitter.

“Look at the state of the @brexitparty_uk candidate standing in Glenrothes – crusading against lesbians, rampant youths and all those without god in their lives,” she tweeted, sharing screenshots of Farrell’s 2017 Facebook posts which are still visible on his public profile.

In one, Farrell writes: “LGBTQ – whatever you are. I now publicly confirm that in response to your never ending attacks. I am now AT WAR WITH YOU ALL.”

He wrote in another: “All Christ-rejecting swamps need draining, and the creatures therein need making into shoes and handbags and buried with Hugh Hefner.”

He strongly objects to “young lesbians in parliament, old lesbians leading political parties“, “youths in arrogant rampantness”, and “beta males … urinating over their own bellies”, which he believes are all symbols of being “abandoned” by God.

Farrell is an evangelical pastor and describes himself as “a full-time Christian” whose faith “permeates” everything.  He has also made disparaging comments against Muslims.

Peter Grant, the SNP candidate campaigning against Farrell for the Glenrothes seat, urged the Brexit Party to respond.

“It’s not as if he’s been shy about his bigoted opinions,” he said. “Will Brexit Party disown him or are they happy to promote such rampant homophobia?”

Shortly after this a party spokesperson confirmed they are distancing themselves from Farrell, telling The Courier: “The Brexit Party does not share these views. We have withdrawn our support for the candidate.”
