Michelle Visage is already talking about changes for Drag Race UK season 2, and we definitely need this one to happen

Michelle Visage

Drag Race UK has barely finished its first run and Michelle Visage – like the rest of us – is already looking forward to season 2.

Drag Race UK topped everything that has come before it in every conceivable way but one.

While the grand final was full of sickening performances and nail-biting lip-syncs, it was certainly lesser in scale than the live finals we’ve seen in the US in recent years.

One fan pointed this out on Twitter, writing: “L❤️VED @dragraceukbbc and cant wait for season 2 BUT can we please get UntuckedUK AND a Grand Finale ‘US style’? Pretty please?”

Michelle Visage retweeted the post, adding: “I’d love that!”

The mainstay judge also confirmed that she’d be returning for another round of Drag Race UK (as if she ever wouldn’t), tweeting: “This meant so much to me personally and I am SOOOOOO proud of ALL of these girls. CONDRAGULATIONS TO OUR WINNER and I’ll See you for series 2!”

She also retweeted a message of support from her Strictly Come Dancing partner, Giovanni Pernice, telling him: ‘Now to get YOU on [season 2].”

What we know about Drag Race UK season 2

The BBC was so excited by Drag Race UK’s first season that it announced a second instalment before it had even finished.

“I want to thank the BBC and all our fans for their overwhelming support of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK,” RuPaul said in a statement.

“This season’s queens proved that Britain’s Got Charisma, Uniqueness, Nerve, and Talent – and I want to see more!”

Casting for the second season is already underway, with the deadline for audition tapes having already passed.

The second batch of queens will arrive on iPlayer in 2020.

Michelle Visage wants 10 years of Drag Race UK

Speaking to PinkNews earlier this year, Visage said that she saw no reason why Drag Race UK can’t run for a decade or more.

“We’re hoping that we’ll be on for 10, maybe 12 series to come, so everybody will get a chance,” she said.

When asked about potential guest judges, she joked that “Meghan Markle has a standing invite, so does the Queen.”

Slightly more realistic targets include Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley, who Visage said she would love to see judge an Ab Fab-themed challenge.
