Wendy Williams denies rumours she’s seeing Whitney Houston’s ex-girlfriend, confirms she ‘likes the D’

Wendy Williams and Robyn Crawford

Wendy Williams has quashed rumours that “something romantical” is going on between her and Whitney Houston’s ex-girlfriend Robyn Crawford.

The talk show host hit back at reports she had started seeing Crawford after interviewing her earlier this month.

“I am no lesbian,” she said. “I like women for friendship. I like men and I like the D.”

Williams explained that the rumours began in an article titled “Wendy’s been looking for female companionship and Whitney’s rolling over in her grave because Wendy has found it in Robyn Crawford”.

“I’m like, first of all, I’m not down with that,” she said.

“I’ve never even been curious. It’s so complicated being a woman, I can’t imagine two of us in a relationship. All due respect to the lesbians.

“And Robyn is married, she’s got kids and I’m not a home-wrecker.”

Robyn Crawford was in a relationship with Whitney Houston.

Crawford, Houston’s close friend and longtime assistant, confirmed earlier in November that she had a romantic and sexual relationship with the singer in the early 80s.

“It was during that first summer that we met, was the first time our lips touched,” she told NBC News.

“And it wasn’t anything planned, it just happened. And it felt wonderful. And then, not long after that, we spent the night together. And that evening was the night that we touched. And that just brought us closer.”

Crawford wrote in her memoir, A Song For You: My Life With Whitney Houston, that the two broke up when Houston’s music career began to take off, because they “didn’t want anything to interfere with where she was going”.

Whitney Houston and girlfriend planned to confront Wendy Williams.

Williams was one of several pundits who gossiped about Crawford’s relationship with Houston while she was still alive.

Appearing on The Wendy Williams Show earlier this month, Crawford said that she and Houston came close to confronting the then-radio host over the rumours.

“Everyone lived by the radio back then,” she said. “We’re in the car, you’re talking like you lived with us, like you’re roommates with us.

“We’re in the car, sitting still and Whitney would say, ‘Who the… who is she? Who is this woman? I don’t even know what she looks like.’

“Our plan was to go down to Hudson Street… and wait for you right outside. We weren’t gonna fight, we just wanted to see you face-to-face and have a chat.”
