Piers Morgan says he ‘was quite popular in the gay clubs’ after viewer urges him to ‘come out of the closet’

Piers Morgan took a break from his inflammatory anti-trans rhetoric to respond to a fellow troll.
The presenter read out a tweet sent to him by a Good Morning Britain viewer which urged him to “come out of the closet.”
“It’s obvious he’s gay stop all the rumours and on national tv say your [sic] gay then have a break in Mykonos with your lover out you come,” wrote Barry Brown, who at the time had no followers and followed nobody.
Morgan added: “I don’t know who Barry is, but is it that obvious?”
His co-anchor Susanna Reid asked if he had “been down to Freedom in Soho without [her].”
“I have been to gay clubs in Soho with Susanna,” Morgan continued.
“I don’t want to comment at this stage Barry, you may be onto something. I do like Mykonos. I was quite popular in the gay clubs, actually. I was quite surprised.”
Same, tbh.
According to Metro, Morgan said the exchange could be a “big moment” where a certain publication might “actually have to be nice about me.”
He continued: “Barry can spot it a mile off, he’s got his gaydars.
“I’m not gonna deny it, why would I? I’m just going to be out there. I’m, as my mother once put it, ambidextrous.”
Morgan has previously joked about being “ambidextrous” when it was put to him by comedian Chelsea Handler that he “flirts with men and women.”
He has been married to the writer Celia Walden since 2010, and was previously married to another woman, Marion Shalloe.
Piers Morgan sparked outrage among LGBT+ community.
In November, Morgan avoided an Ofcom investigation after he claimed to identify as a “two-spirit penguin.”
He made the comment in reference to a BBC film which said there are more than 100 genders.
After watching a clip, Morgan shouted: “Shut up! Shut up, you people. Let me tell you some of these gender names: Neutrois, pangender, polygender, two-spirit person, transmasculine… What’s a two-spirit person? What’s wrong with male and female?”
After Reid asked: “What’s wrong with male and female,” he continued: “No, they can’t. OK, alright, I’m a penguin. I’m a penguin. Identifying as a two spirit penguin.”
More than 34,000 people signed a petition calling for Morgan to be fired for his “dehumanising dismissal” of trans and non-binary identities.
Ofcom received almost 1,000 complaints, but ruled that his remarks “did not raise issues warranting investigation.”
