New Schitt’s Creek promo billboard in Los Angeles just said gay rights
Schitt’s Creek has become wildly popular during its time on-air, largely due to its unabashed LGBT representation.
David and Patrick’s relationship has been one with its fair share of ups and downs during the show’s run.
But the pair eventually embraced their feelings for each other, and now they’re engaged!
Adorable.
Now, the final season of the show is fast approaching – and this promotional billboard is giving the gays everything they want.
‘My teenage self would never have dreamed to be true’.
The billboard sits loud and proud on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles, California, and shows David and Patrick sharing a passionate smooch.
The show’s creator Dan Levy, who also plays the pivotal role of David himself, shared an image of the billboard on Twitter.
“F*** yes we did,” he wrote.
“Shine bright, friends. Very grateful for @poptv and @cbc and their support of this campaign that my teenage self would never have dreamed to be true.”

The photo was taken by @jacklovestv, who initially posted it with the caption: “I’m dead this is amazing.
“And it’s right outside my work so I can mysteriously go on a lot of walks.”

While LA is one of the more progressive jurisdictions in the US, LGBT+ people still face discrimination and bigotry there and all over the world.
Queer relationships are all too often still looked on in a negative light, and there’s still a lot of risk attached to same-gender couples showing affection in public spaces.
So having a huge gay declaration hanging on a billboard for all to see?
That’s pretty epic.
Schitt’s Creek fans show some serious love for final season billboard.
Fans have come out to show gratitude to Levy and the show, sharing their thoughts online.
One Twitter user wrote:
“You can be grateful for CBC and Pop, but really you did this. You made real change happen. And we’re all so grateful for that.”

Another Twitter user tagged Hallmark in their reply to Levy – seemingly in response to Hallmark’s recent scandal surrounding the censoring of LGBT relationships.
“This is love,” the fan wrote.
“This is representation. This is what the world deserves to see. Learn from this amazing writer, show runner and actor.
“He is making changes in the industry and so should you. Everyone in the industry needs to follow his lead.”

Fans on Instagram were also vocal with their support of the billboard and the show.
One fan commented on Levy’s post:
“I could cry seeing this!! So proud of you and everything this show is!! ❤️?”
Another Instagram comment read:
“Wow. I can’t express how special it is to see this. A billboard. Of two people (characters) who are in love, kissing. Out in public. Out from behind closed doors. This is a statement to cherish here in our lifetime. Thank you. ?”
We second that sentiment.
