Netflix’s groundbreaking Sex Education is back – and the new trailer teases a gay love triangle

Sometimes, the world gives the LGBT+ community everything they want, as Netflix have dropped a teaser trailer for the new season of Sex Education.
The groundbreaking British comedy-drama was unapologetic in just how fumbling and awkward growing up and exploring sexuality as a teen can be.
And it seems like the show is steamier than it ever has been before for its hotly-anticipated second season.
Sex Education is set to return to Netflix on January 17 with eight brand new episodes.
What happens in the Sex Education trailer?
As the Moordale Secondary School doors swing back open for a new term, viewers are greeted to the colourful cast of characters once again who are, of course, sitting through an informative talk about sex and relationships.
Dr Jean Milburn (Gillian Anderson) addressed the teens: “I’m here to start an open conversation about s, e, x.”
It sets the tone for the show as Otis (Asa Butterfield), Maeve Wiley (Emma Mackey) and Eric Effiong (Ncuti Gatwa) all come to grips with their sexualities.
After all, with Jean being Otis’ mother, hearing her deliver a talk can only be described as the definition of second-hand embarrassment.
But things are tangled, the trailer teased, as Otis must “master his newly discovered sexual urges” to keep steady with girlfriend Ola while also keeping tabs on his strained relationship with Maeve.
“It’s a new year, no more clinic, no more drama”, Otis declared before it’s revealed the school is caught in a chlamydia outbreak.
As new students are arriving, the outbreak highlights the need for better sex education as the afflicted teens all turn to Otis for advice. Like mother like son, apparently.
Tensions are also rising between Eric Effiong (Ncuti Gatwa) and closeted Adam Groff (Connor Swindells). There’s also a wave of head-turns as new French student Rahim (Sam Outabali) strolls leisurely through the school corridors.
He ends up asking out Eric for a date which apparently ends with a kiss, to the dismay of Adam.
