A gallery is staging an exhibition of Britney Spears paintings, the most important collection since Van Gogh’s ‘Sunflowers’
Renowned impressionist painter and sometimes popstar Britney Spears will reportedly have her artwork displayed in an historic solo exhibition.
Galerie Sympa in south-west France will reportedly play host to what art critics are already calling the single most important collection of works since Van Gogh’s ‘Sunflowers’.
“We’re thrilled to announce that we will be opening @britneyspears first solo show in a contemporary art gallery,” the gallery wrote on Instagram, along with the hashtags “#britneybitch” and “#artsyfartsy.”
Those who follow Spears’ iconic Instagram presence (seriously, it’s a masterpiece in itself) will already be well-acquainted with the singer’s “artsy fartsy” leanings.
In 2017 she shared a video of herself painting a bed of flowers while listening to Mozart’s ‘Piano Sonata 11’, writing: “Sometimes you just gotta play!!!!!! ???????????????????.”
This painting appears to be the inspiration for the show, which is named for its legendary caption.
However it is unclear how the gallery has sourced the work, which was sold for $10,000 to the late Robin Leach at an auction to benefit the victims of the 2017 Las Vegas terror attack.
The surprise announcement sent devotees of the Holy Spearit (now to be known as Artney historians) into a veritable gay panic.

Britney Spears exhibition announcement light on details.
Sympa did not immediately respond to a request for more information: namely, which works will be displayed in the show and whether Spears will attend the grand opening.
According to its website, the show will open on January 18 and will run “til the world ends”.
Since announcing the exhibition, the gallery has shared a number of other Spears-related posts, including a black and white image with the caption “#freebritney MOTHERF***ERS,” a reference to the social media movement to release Spears from her court-mandated conservatorship.
The singer’s finances, business affairs and personal wellbeing have been in the charge of the conservatorship since 2008.
According to USA Today, the arrangement is usually reserved for “developmentally disabled individuals who have reached adulthood [whose] parents seek to be appointed as conservators”, or, as is more common, “elderly people, many with dementia, who may be vulnerable to financial abuse”.
In recent years, as Spears has pressed pause on her music career to focus on her wellbeing and her family, the Free Britney movement has floated the idea that she is effectively imprisoned by the arrangement.
The height of Free Britney mania came last April, after Spears announced she was checking into a mental health facility following the stress of her father’s “life-threatening” colon rupture.
At the time she appeared to address the speculation, writing on Instagram (where else): “Don’t believe everything you read and hear.”
