Sex toy company reveals ‘Down-Under donation dildo’ where all profits go to Australia bushfire relief

Down-Under donation dildo

Across the globe, organisations, celebrities and lawmakers are scrambling to do what they can to help curb the effects of the calamitous bushfires ravaging Australia.

But what can be added to the list of allies? A sex toy.

We have arguably reached the climax of what 2020 will be after Australian brand Geeky Sex Toys, which specialise in adult toys “re-imagined in a nerdy way”, dropped the ‘Down-Under donation dildo’ which is very much a real thing and no you are not hallucinating.

All profits from the toy are donated directly to relief efforts dotting the country, raising a hefty AUS$15,000 in four days.

Oh, and, as they were basically legally obligated to, it costs AUS$69. Crikey!

The handmade base is shaped like Australia, while the, uh, shaft is yellow and has a koala on it.

What a great day to have eyes.

When the dildo was announced on Twitter, pretty much everyone made the exact same joke.

We’re taking this as confirmation that we are truly in a Black Mirror episode now. It’s confirmed and we are doomed.

Dildo’s designer: ‘People seem to love the idea that something as random as a dildo can help raise awareness.’

“When you purchase our Down-Under donation dildo”, the product description says, “we will give 100% of the profits directly to the bushfire relief efforts.

“A specific charity has yet to be determined but we will be posting regular updates on our Instagram and Twitter with the amount of money raised and specifically where it is going.”

Geeky Sex Toys co-founder and the dildo’s designer Josh Porter told PinkNews that the company had already donated money to relief groups, but as the inferno worsened, they thrust themselves into action.

“We figured, we’re pretty damn good at designing and producing sex toys, so let’s make an Australian themed dildo with all the profits going to charity!” he said.

“We also thought it was a unique way of helping out and could gather quite a bit of media attention, so even if people didn’t purchase a dildo they might still go and donate directly.”

Porter described the reaction to the toy as “incredible” so far and “overwhelmingly positive”.

“People seem to love the idea that something as random as a dildo can help raise awareness and most importantly money in times like this.”

What is causing the Australian bushfires?

Once lush green lawns and white picket fences reduced to ash, skies coloured red, wildlife threatened to near extinction, countless people evacuated from their homes.

Fire season has always seen the Australian bush burn. But as temperatures crawl upwards due to climate catastrophe, as well as three years of droughts, this season has been been one of the most deadly ever observed.

Searing heat and winds have propelled fires across large swathes of the country.

And with arid conditions on the horizon, experts say the fires will only be ignited, while others note that such fires will become more frequent and even more intense.
