Madonna cancels yet another Madame X show 45 minutes before she was due on stage

Madonna is under fire over her track 'God Control'

Madonna was out of time, and fans only got 45 minutes, 45 minutes.

The star cancelled her a Lisbon date of her Madame X Tour on Sunday, January 19, less than an hour before the show was set to begin.

Ticket holders received an email at 7.45pm which read: “We regret to inform you that Madonna is unable to perform this evening.” She had been due on stage at 8.30pm.

Madonna wrote on Instagram that she was “sorry” to cancel the show, adding: “I must listen to my body and rest.”

She said she will return to Lisbon’s Coliseu dos Recreios on Tuesday, January 21, “fingers crossed.”

Sunday marked the eighth time Madonna has had to cancel a show on her Madame X Tour, which kicked off in New York in September five days after its original start date.

Production issues meant that the first and second planned concerts were rescheduled, with the third cancelled entirely. Similar reasons were given for the cancellation of an LA date.

A fourth New York date was nixed due to injury, with medical reasons also cited for the cancellation of all three planned Boston dates.

While Madonna has not explained exactly what medical issues she is battling, the North American run of the tour – which finds the pop icon switching stadiums for intimate theatres – ended a day early because of her “indescribable pain”.

“As I climbed the ladder to sing ‘Batuka’ on Saturday night in Miami, I was in tears from the pain of my injuries, which have been indescribable for the past few days,” she wrote on Instagram on Christmas Day.

“With every song I sang, I said a prayer that I would make it to the next and get through the show.”

She confirmed that she had spent two days consulting with doctors and undergoing several tests – “scans ultra sounds x-rays, poking, probing and more tears.”

I was in tears from the pain of my injuries, Which has been indescribable for the past few days With every song I sang, I said a prayer that I would make it to the next and get thru the show. My prayers were answered, And I made it. I consider myself a warrior I never quit, I never give in, I never give up!! However this time I have to listen to my body And accept that my pain is a warning I want to say how deeply sorry I am to all my fans. For having to cancel my last show I spent the last two days with doctors Scans, ultra sounds, Xrays Poking and probing and more tears. They have made it very clear to me that if l’am to continue my tour— I must rest for as long as possible so that I don’t inflict further and Irreversible damage to my body. I have never let an injury stop me from performing but this time i have to accept that there is no shame in being human and having to press the pause button………….. I thank you all for your understanding, love and support. As the Words to Batuka go……….. It’s a Long Road……….Lord Have Mercy??. Things have got to change. And they will because MADAME ❌. is a fighter!! Happy Holidays to Everyone ♥️? #madamextheatre #thefillmoremiamibeach @orquestra.batukadeiras.pt
