Diplo brought Orville Peck as his Grammys date after striking up a friendship ‘in the DMs’
Orville Peck arrived at the Grammy Awards 2020 with sexually ambiguous super-producer Diplo.
Diplo and Peck, the enigmatic masked gay country singer, walked the Grammys red carpet in matching cowboy ensembles: Peck in his signature mask and a dove-winged hat, Diplo with an ornamental collar and heavy silver jewellery.
The pair posed for pictures with their arms around each others’ shoulders.
When asked by Billboard how their friendship had began, Diplo said: “In the DMs, to be honest.”
“A lonesome trail on Instagram,” Peck added.
“We’re both on the same journey,” Diplo continued. “We’re looking for a place to go.”
The pair both admitted that the other was “the most surprising person” to have ever slid into their DMs, and revealed that they are currently working on music together.
“We love each other,” Diplo said. “We do,” Peck added.
The producer joked that he and Peck wanted to be “the best dressed people here, but then Lil Nas X showed up and kind of ruined it”.
The “Old Town Road” rapper impressed in a pink “cowboy dominatrix” look, rivalled only by Billy Porter’s revolving crystal-fringed hat.
He was later pictured together with Peck and Diplo, with fans declaring: “Gay cowboy rights, y’all.”

Later in the night Peck watched on as Diplo and Lil Nas X teamed up to perform “Old Town Road” with BTS, Billy Ray Cyrus and rap legend Nas.
The performance opened with a tribute to Kobe Bryant, who passed away in a helicopter crash just hours before the ceremony began.
