Christian hate group is now accusing Disney of indoctrinating children with the ‘LGBT+ agenda’

A right-wing Christian group has accused Disney of trying to indoctrinate their children by featuring an openly gay character in new film Onward.

One Million Moms, a group that is part of the American Family Association, labeled a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Centre, hit out at the film over its gay character Officer Specter, who is voiced by Lena Waithe.

“Alerting all parents!” the group wrote on their website. “One Million Moms needs your help to make sure as many people as possible are aware of Disney pushing the LGBTQ agenda on families, particularly children, in the upcoming animated movie Onward.”

Disney’s Onward will feature its first ever openly gay character, and unsurprisingly, Christians are not happy.

In a sentence that really needs to be printed, framed and hung in an art gallery, the group wrote: “The character of Officer Specter, voiced by openly gay Lena Waithe, is a purple lesbian Cyclops whose dialogue reveals her sexuality.” Purple lesbian Cyclopses are well known for the immense harm they present to children.

The group goes on to claim that Onward is just the latest effort from Disney to “indoctrinate children with the LGBTQ agenda discretely [sic] and now more overtly”.

One Million Moms needs your help to make sure as many people as possible are aware of Disney pushing the LGBTQ agenda on families, particularly children, in the upcoming animated movie Onward.

They hit out at Disney for brief, fleeting examples of LGBT+ representation in Star Wars, Beauty and the Beast and Toy Story 4, and suggested that the major studio is trying to turn their kids gay.

One Million Moms insisted Disney was ‘pushing an agenda’ by featuring an LGBT+ character.

“These scenes are subtle in order to desensitise children. But now Disney has traded its subtlety for intentionality.

“Disney has decided to be politically correct instead of providing family friendly programming. Disney should stick to entertaining, not pushing an agenda.”

Almost 20,000 people have signed the group’s petition telling Disney that they will not watch Onward because of its queer character.

Disney announced last week that Onward would feature its first openly gay character, voiced by queer actor and writer Lena Waithe.

Waithe celebrated the news on Instagram, taking a screenshot of an article by the Advocate on the announcement, captioned with a rainbow emoji.
