Pastor displays homophobic sign after realising lesbian neighbours weren’t roommates after all

A lesbian couple has spoken of their distress after a pastor who lives across the street from them put up an anti-gay sign when he found out they weren’t roommates.
Lynda Slimer, who lives in Louisiana, explained in a Facebook post that she and her wife along with their two daughters arrived home one day to see the sign.
The sign reads: “God forbids homosexuality, so should we,” Metro Weekly reports.
“This is a sign filled with hate and biblical mistranslations that is meant to make my family and I scared and uncomfortable in our own home,” Slimer wrote.
The lesbian couple think the pastor has only just realised they aren’t roommates a year after they moved in.
“Our safe space, our sanctuary from the world, our space that we have filled with love and peace and understanding. Our home where we raise our children to be tolerant and understanding and to love everyone like Jesus would.
“And this is the sign we come home to in the yard of the pastor who lives across from us, whose church website states ‘everyone is welcome’.”
Slimer said she and her wife have lived across the street from the pastor and his wife for a year and have faced no objections in that time.

“I’ve baked them cookies, invited them into our home and introduced them to our family. They have waved to us as they come and go and we have talked about the weather.
“They’ve told us if we ever need anything to just come knock on their door. All thrown out the window because they realised that we are wives and not roommates.
The couple has received support from other neighbours.
She added: “This is not a representation of God. Jesus would not do this.”
Luckily for the lesbian couple, the pastor seems to be the only person in his neighbourhood behind the campaign of hate. She said neighbours were upset upon learning what he had done and had come to them expressing support.
Local police even knocked on the pastor’s door and asked him to take down the sign – but to no avail.
“Jesus showed up in the form of our family and friends that have loved on us today. For each and every one of you we are SO Thankful!” she wrote.
“Jesus is here in my yard, not across the street,” she added.
