Britain’s ‘first gay dad’ is now expecting triplets with his daughter’s ex-boyfriend

Britain’s “first gay dad” has revealed that he and his new boyfriend – who also happens to be his daughter’s ex-boyfriend – are expecting triplets.
Barrie Drewitt-Barlow made headlines with his then-partner Tony Drewitt-Barlow when, in 1999, they had twins through a surrogate, becoming the first same-sex couple to do so publicly.
But last November, Barrie revealed that his 32-year relationship with Tony had come to an end after he fell “head over heels” for his daughter’s 25-year-old bisexual ex-boyfriend Scott Hutchinson.
The 50-year-old and his new boyfriend have now told The Sun that their family is set to expand significantly, as they are expecting triplets through a surrogate.

“I am overjoyed to share the news that Scott and I are pregnant with triplet girls,” Barrie told the newspaper.
“We are using a surrogate and she’s fallen pregnant at the first attempt.
“Our family has too many boys and too much testosterone! So we used sex selection to even things out. We know we are having girls.”

The men are reportedly shopping for a Burberry-themed £100,000 nursery for their three new daughters, which they described as “the ultimate princess palace”.
“We are thrilled we are going to become daddies again. We’re going to spoil the girls rotten,” he added.
He said his ex-husband Tony is “excited too”, but said the new arrivals have made it clear that their marriage “really is over after all these years”, calling it “bittersweet”.
Barrie and Tony already have five children together.
However, Barrie has apparently remained close with his ex – he said that Tony will continue living with them and will play a part in their daughters’ lives.
“Tony is ‘dad’, I’m ‘daddy’ and while at the moment Scott is ‘stepdad’, soon he’s going to be ‘daddy two’,” he explained.
He said they want to co-parent their children and added: “If people don’t get it, that’s their problem, not ours.”
Barrie and Tony already have five children together, meaning Barrie will be dad to eight following the arrival of his triplets. He said they are a “very modern family”.
“There are far more dysfunctional households than ours, we are just unconventional, as our kids have three parents who adore them,” he said.
