Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato bonded as teens over being ‘gay as f**k’
Miley Cyrus has said that she bonded with Demi Lovato as a child star over being “gay as f**k”.
The two former Disney stars, who grew up appearing in Hannah Montana and Camp Rock respectively, hosted an Instagram hang-out while both in isolation due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Miley Cyrus says she and Demi Lovato bonded over being ‘gay as f**k’.
The pair reflected on their evolving friendship during the full 40-minute broadcast.
Lovato volunteered: “We connected then because we just saw something in each other. Maybe it was spirituality or maybe it was just our hearts. I don’t know.”
Cyrus responded: “Or maybe we were just gay as f**k!”
Laughing off the quip, Lovato added: “OK, next question!”

Both stars have spoken about their sexuality before.
Both stars are out-and-proud, with Miley Cyrus identifying as pansexual and, in a marked departure from her Hannah Montana days, releasing songs about having sex with women.
She said previously: “A big part of my pride and my identity is being a queer person. What I preach is: People fall in love with people, not gender, not looks, not whatever. What I’m in love with exists on almost a spiritual level.”
Meanwhile, Demi Lovato confirmed in 2017 that she dates both men and women, saying: “That’s how I’ve always felt.” Prior to that, her 2015 hit “Cool for the Summer” was widely interpreted as being about a same-sex fling.
In February Lovato spoke to SiriusXM host Andy Cohen about coming out to her parents
“After everything was done, I was, like, shaking and crying, and I just felt overwhelmed.
“My dad was like, ‘Yeah, obviously,'” she said. “And I was like, ‘Oh, OK, Dad.’
“My mom was the one that I was, like, super nervous about, but she was just like, ‘I just want you to be happy.’ And that was so beautiful and amazing. And, I’m, like I said, so grateful.”
She added: “I don’t know what my future looks like. I don’t know if I’m going to have kids this year or in 10 years. I don’t know if I’m gonna do it with a partner or without, ’cause women, we don’t need partners. Amen!”
