Lesbian couple get married in the middle of the street proving coronavirus can’t stand in the way of true love

A lesbian couple got married in the middle of a New York street due to the “uncertainty and despair” of the coronavirus pandemic.
Reilly Jennings revealed that she and her wife Amanda were due to get married in October of this year, but felt that the wedding was unlikely to go ahead due to coronavirus.
Last Friday (March 20), the couple went and got their marriage licence and were on their way to their local courthouse to get married early.
The lesbian couple got married in the middle of a New York street amid coronavirus uncertainty.
However, their plans were plunged into uncertainty once again when the mayor of New York announced the immediate closure of the marriage bureau.
Jennings and her partner were heartbroken – but then they got word from their friend Matt Wilson that he was ordained and could perform marriages in the state.
Amidst the uncertainty and despair we all feel right now, marrying the love of my life in the most NYC moment was perfect.
“We said YES, finished our work meetings, walked down the street to his apartment and got married below his fourth story window as the neighbourhood looked on alongside four of our best friends,” Jennings wrote on Instagram.
Their friends sat in a car and watched the ceremony from a distance while Wilson married the couple from his fourth floor apartment in an effort to obey physical distancing guidelines.
Reilly Jennings said their makeshift wedding was ‘perfect’.
“Amidst the uncertainty and despair we all feel right now, marrying the love of my life in the most NYC moment was perfect,” Jennings wrote.
“I’ve waited four years to call [Amanda] my wife. This was all just the cherry on top of the love I feel every day.”
In a separate post, Jennings urged people to hire Wilson for “every wedding ever” after he officiated from a fourth floor window.
The heartwarming wedding took place as COVID-19 continues to spread across the world. More than 300,000 people have been diagnosed with the coronavirus and more than 14,000 have died.
People in affected countries are being urged to engage in social or physical distancing and self-isolation in an effort to stem the spread of the virus.
Meanwhile, some countries such as Italy, which is one of the worst affected countries in the world, have enforced strict lockdowns in an effort to reduce the number of new infections.
