Donald Trump’s Bible studies leader claims coronavirus is God’s wrath for lesbianism and homosexuality
For the first time in 100 years the US cabinet has a Bible study group, and the man who leads it is blaming coronavirus on, you guessed it, the gays.
Every Wednesday Ralph Drollinger teaches the Gospel to the most powerful people in the US, including Mike Pence, Mike Pompeo, Betsy DeVos and Jeff Sessions.
Drollinger expands on his teachings on his blog, Capitol Ministries. A few days ago he published his “biblically astute evaluation” of the coronavirus pandemic, and it’s as problematic as you’d expect.
“Yes, America is experiencing the consequential wrath of God,” he wrote. With frequent references to the Bible he spells out the five key “identifiers” of this, and coming in at number three is “a sensation toward homosexuality”.
“Clearly indicative of God’s forsaking wrath is when the abandoned serve the creature rather than the creator,” he declared. “Indicative of forsaking wrath is a proclivity toward lesbianism and homosexuality.”
And he also threw in a homophobic Bible passage for good measure.
Other supposed causes of the coronavirus are those who worship the “religion of environmentalism”. These eco-friendly infiltrators, he says, “are largely responsible for God’s consequential wrath on our nation.”
While most of America are faithful individuals, he bemoans the fact that too many of the unfaithful have gained positions of influence in “our government, our educational system, our media and our entertainment industry.
“This is tragic, unfortunate, and costly.”
But Ralph Drollinger concludes by reassuring readers that, in his Biblically educated opinion, America will probably fare better than Sodom and Gomorrah did. Good to know.
According to The Intercept, Drollinger’s study guides have provided Biblical justification for Trump’s most controversial decisions, including the policy of separating undocumented child immigrants from their parents.
Two key members of the US coronavirus task force, urban development secretary Ben Carson and health secretary Alex Azar, are regular attendees of Drollinger’s Bible study.
Vice president Mike Pence, also a coronavirus task force leader, is a listed host of Capitol Ministries.
