Taylor Swift quietly donates thousands to fans who are struggling due to coronavirus
Taylor Swift has donated thousands of dollars to fans who are struggling financially because of coronavirus.
The singer is known for her generosity towards fans, often surprising individual followers with extremely sweet, personalised gifts – and during a time of crisis, she has stepped up considerably.
Several dedicated Swift fans say that after airing their worries about financial problems, Swift discreetly got in touch to offer them generous donations.
Taylor Swift has been surprising fans with cash donations
They include Holly Turner, a Taylor Swift fan on Tumblr, who works as a freelance music photographer and graphic designer and has seen her work dry up entirely during the pandemic.
On her blog, Turner had written that she was “on the brink of losing everything”, explaining: “This pandemic started in early March, and every last gig I had lined up, every last dollar I was supposed to be making, has been cancelled for the foreseeable future.
“I will not have work until what is looking like fall at the earliest, and everything is closed so I cannot find a new job. I thought I had enough saved up to last at least a couple months. I don’t.”

Turner wrote that she has “never cried so hard in my entire life”, adding: “Can’t get over the fact that I can now literally say Taylor Swift has done more for me than the US government.”
‘She makes me feel so loved.’
Another Taylor Swift fan, Samantha Jacobson, was also surprised with a donation from the singer after her workplace closed – leaving her with “no job, no income, no way to pay my bills”.
Swift wrote: “I saw your tweet about being stressed about bills piling up and I want to help. What’s the best way I can gift you $3,000? Do you have PayPal? Love, Taylor.”

This virus took my new dream job away but @taylorswift GAVE ME SOME JOY TONIGHT out of pure kindness I’M— #BEKind pic.twitter.com/13nSKM2uZH— “LY DUDE. YOU DESERVE SUPPORT, TOO.” (@hopefulgoodgirl) March 26, 2020
She wrote: “I will literally never be able to repay her for the sheer gesture of it – never mind the actual amount which is three months of rent for me. It’s a wonderfully humble example of acknowledging that her small change can really impact someone else.”
Swift has not promoted any of the donations herself and has kept all the conversations to direct messages – meaning there could be many more fans out there that she’s helped and who haven’t gone public.
The singer has had a dramatic month, with a leaked recording of her notorious 2016 phone call with Kanye West propelling her back into the headlines – and more-or-less exonerating her of any wrongdoing in the long-running ordeal.
She has leveraged the drama to raise funds for Feeding America and the World Health Organisation, writing on her Instagram Story: “Instead of answering those who are asking how I feel about the video footage that leaked, proving that I was telling the truth the whole time about *that call* (you know, the one that was illegally recorded, that somebody edited and manipulated in order to frame me and put me, my family, and fans through hell for 4 years)… SWIPE up to see what really matters.”
Fans who swiped up were greeted by a donation page for the charities.
