YouTuber NikkieTutorials hits out at Ellen DeGeneres, bolstering claims of the star’s ‘mean behaviour’

YouTube star NikkieTutorials spoke to Ellen DeGeneres on The Ellen Show

The transgender YouTuber NikkieTutorials made some barbed comments about Ellen DeGeneres, supporting claims that the star is “one of the meanest people alive”.

NikkieTutorials, real name Nikkie de Jager, appeared on The Ellen Show in January to speak about the blackmail attempt that led her to come out as transgender.

The pair shared what seemed like an emotional heart-to-heart on the show, with DeGeneres appearing warm and friendly during the interview.

But Nikkie later revealed that DeGeneres was not as welcoming as she might appear to be on screen – and she didn’t even say hello to her guest when she arrived on set.

The Dutch-born YouTuber spilled the tea on Dutch TV show De Wereld Draait Door in February, in an interview that has just now resurfaced in English.

Asked about her experience on The Ellen Show, Nikkie replied bluntly: “It’s really nice that you came over and said hello to me… She didn’t.”

When the interviewer pressed her on this, she said the show felt like “a whole different world”.

“What I’ve experienced here and in other countries [is] that it’s really a whole different world. It’s more distant,” she said.

She declined to go into further detail, adding that it was nonetheless a “huge honour” to be able to come out on a stage as big as The Ellen Show.

Ellen DeGeneres described as ‘notoriously mean’ by ex-employees.

DeGeneres has been plagued by rumours of rude and unreasonable behaviour both on and off set after one of her ex-employees, Kevin T Porter, described her as “one of the meanest people alive” in a Twitter thread.

He encouraged Twitter users to share their “insane stories” of Ellen’s behaviour, pledging to match each one with a $2 donation to LA Food Bank.

It wasn’t long before the flood gates opened as people shared stories of the “unhinged” star that seemed painfully at odds with her reputation for generosity and kindness.

Among those with tales to tell was TV writer Benjamin Siemon, who claimed: “She has a ‘sensitive nose’ so everyone must chew gum from a bowl outside her office before talking to her and if she thinks you smell that day you have to go home and shower.”

He continued: “A new staff member was told, ‘Every day she picks someone different to really hate. It’s not your fault, just suck it up for the day and she’ll be mean to someone else the next day.’ They didn’t believe it but it ended up being entirely true.”

Others spoke of the star’s alleged lack of manners and unwillingness to acknowledge her staff, with one Los Angeles resident saying that stories of Ellen’s rudeness are “ubiquitous” at parties.

It wasn’t the first time Ellen’s been called out: back in 2016 her fellow comedian Kathy Griffin said that she “has a mean streak” that is “well known throughout Hollywood”.
