This pastor thinks homosexuality is a sin. He also thinks he can cure coronavirus by blowing through your TV
Anti-LGBT+ pastor and televangelist Kenneth Copeland has tried to channel the “wind of God” and cure coronavirus by blowing through TV screens.
Copeland, who believes that homosexuality is “unnatural”, already tried to heal people who have contracted COVID-19 through their televisions last month, but he has now adopted a different approach.
Standing in an empty church, accompanied by just four members of Kenneth Copeland Ministries, he delivered a sermon that was broadcast online on April 3.
In the broadcast, Copeland screamed: “Wind, almighty, strong, south wind, heat: Burn this thing, in the name of Jesus. Satan, you bow your knees. You fall on your face.”
He then shouted “COVID-19”, before blowing hard into the camera. He continued: “I blow the wind of God on you. You are destroyed forever. And you will never be back.”
Last month, Copeland tried to “heal” people who have the coronavirus, in another broadcast captured by Right Wing Watch.
“Put your hand on that television set,” Copeland said, while holding up a hand that is presumably covered in holy water and standing in front of a screen that read: “Standing against coronavirus.” He proceeded to send his “healing” through the television to viewers at home.
The 83-year-old Texan is well known in evangelical circles in the United States, where he has been a controversial figure due to his enjoyment of private jets.
An article on the Kenneth Copeland Ministries website asks the question: “Is homosexuality wrong?”
While the article insists that gay people are “no less loved by God,” it also states that homosexuality is “unnatural” and suggests that queer people can change their sexuality by becoming religious.
It says: “God created mankind male and female. His natural order was that each had an innate desire for the opposite sex.
“Sexual union between a man and a woman within the boundaries of the God-ordained marriage relationship is right and holy by God’s standards.
“Conversely, the Scriptures teach us that when a man desires a sexual union with another man and a woman with another woman, this is an unnatural affection that goes against God’s natural order in creation… Once a person is born again he or she can freely receive God’s grace (supernatural empowerment) to overcome the sinful desires of the flesh.”
