Socialist, sprinter and sometimes singer Britney Spears is back at it again with setting the standard of how celebrities should react to the coronavirus pandemic.

Not only has the star rallied for workers to unite and lose their chains, pledged to financially assist victims of the pandemic and overall, deliver content that makes us not feel engulfed by existential dread on a daily basis, now she’s paying tribute to healthcare workers.

Spears tweeted Tuesday evening a meme of herself, raising a bottle of Purell hand sanitiser up high and dressed in her “…Baby One More Time” outfit.

The legendary lyric, “My loneliness is killing me”, is in the background, but has been scrawled out and replaced with “My loneliness is saving me!” and the hashtag #StayHome at the bottom.

Britney Spears honours healthcare heroes and urges people to stay at home.

It’s a reference to the stringent social distancing measures taken by countless world leaders to curb the climbing coronavirus caseload.

By simply minimising the contact one makes with other people, health experts say, it greatly reduces the rate at which the virus will spread.

The 38-year-old wrote: “Enough said.

“And thank you to all of the healthcare workers tirelessly working to keep us safe during this time!”

Her tweet came on the World Health Organization’s annual World Health Day (April 7), which has been marked with a new urgency given the ongoing pandemic pelting the public health systems across the world.

It saw countless celebrities – from Mariah Carey to Sam Smith – pay homage to healthcare staff on the frontline of the outbreak with a virtual round of applause.

But Spears’ tweet served to unite the world.

Everyone from Derry Girls‘ Nicola Coughlan and Bernie Sanders’ campaign team to people who, for some asinine reason, would never retweet Spears, expressed their admiration to their class comrade.
