Lady Gaga fans are convinced a new Chromatica single is coming this week, so we guess now’s as good a time as ever to freak out
Lady Gaga is rumoured to be releasing a new Chromatica single, “Free Woman”, on the album’s original release date.
Gaga stans have proven time and time again that when it comes to sleuthing, don’t ring up the FBI or the Secret Service, call them instead.
First, it was “Babylon”, then “Rain On Me” featuring Ariana Grande.
Now the latest rumoured single from Chromatica is a track called “Free Woman”, which fans are scrambling to verify ahead of its alleged arrival on Friday, the album’s original release date.
Lady Gaga teased a song about being a ‘free woman’.
Gaga first mentioned the supposed title in her recent PAPER magazine interview.
“In 2020, what does it mean to be a free woman?” she asked.
“Can I feel free on my own? Do I need to be loved in order to feel like I’ve conquered it all?”
Journalist Justin Moran noted that the question prompted “a song that answers this question and sees her challenging the need to be with a man — or anyone at all — in order to survive.”
Gaga continued: “It [the song] came from thinking on some days I was going to die. I was like: ‘I’m going to die soon, so I better say something important.’
Now I listen to it and know that I’m going to live.
Now, further evidence. According to Reddit detectives, a URL that directs the user to Gaga’s French store contained the words “Free Woman”.

The website redirect, coupled with the mentioning of “free woman” in the interview, confirms the song’s existence, detectives say.
Other Reddit sleuths pointed out that “https://smarturl.it/freewoman” redirects to Google, “just like how it happened with ‘Stupid Love’ one day before release”, although this is not, of course, stone cold evidence.
And the alleged Friday release date stems from “insider info” from the pop culture forum ATRL.
‘F’ is for ‘Free Woman’, maybe, fans say.
But the plot thickens. Investigators also believe that DJ Zedd, who worked with Ariana Grande for “Break Free”, is the producer for “Free Woman”.
The producer tweeted on Wednesday evening a single letter: “F.”

Fans frantically connected it to Gaga, who whipped followers into a frenzy when she infamously tweeted the same letter in August 2019.

She later explained that she tweeted it as part of a “social experiment”, and fans are now suggesting the letter stands for, yup, “Free Woman”.
But there is a clear and notable difference between the two tweets that, Gaga experts stress, cannot be ignored. Gaga’s tweet was lower-case, and Zedd’s upper-case, hurtling the link between them into jeopardy.
Is this just Zedd doing his own “social experiment”? Will this entire article be meaningless come Friday when Gaga doesn’t drop any new music?

Nevertheless, no matter how strong your belief, we must all join hands and form a prayer circle and believe this song will, in fact, be released.
Chromatica delayed while Gaga fights coronavirus.
Fans hopes for the hotly-anticipated release of Chromatica – the singer’s sixth studio album – were hollowed when the coronavirus paralysed all aspects of modern life.
As the outbreak bears down on the world, Gaga announced the album’s postponement so that she could — being the hero we well and truly do not deserve — raise funds for the World Health Organization’s relief efforts and research.
