Billy Porter is spending lockdown doing what he does best – turning looks, stunting pretty and throwing down the ultimate fashion challenge
Billy Porter has urged would-be queens the world over to take part in his quarantine fashion challenge, and the category is: “Couch potato realness.”
The Pose star and queer icon asked his fans last month to recreate his famous Met Gala look while self-isolating using items they had at home, and the results were incredible.
Now, in his second fashion challenge, he wants people to strut down an imagined runway in their house, wearing their most fabulous yet comfy outfits.
He posted on Instagram: “Post a video (gold stars for slow motion videos) of your fiercest runway walk in your couch potato lewks – wild hair and all!
Porter asked people werking from home to use the hashtag #BillyPorterFashionChallenge, so he could choose and share his favourites on his own Instagram. He added: “Can’t wait to see those videos, hennies!”
He posted a slow motion video of himself to get us started, but couch potato realness it was not.
Dressed in custom couture by Giles Deacon, gold platform boots and dripping in crystals, walking to his own song “Love Yourself”, we can assume that Porter will be judging the challenge rather than taking part himself.
Billy Porter will play a genderless fairy godmother in Cinderella.
It was announced last month that Billy Porter is set to play a genderless version of the fairy godmother in an upcoming live-action remake of Cinderella, due for release in 2021.
Speaking to CBS News, he said it was a “profound” feeling to be playing the iconic character, and added: “Magic has no gender.
“We are presenting this character as genderless – at least that’s how I’m playing it. And it’s really powerful.”
Porter added: “This is a classic fairytale for a new generation, and I think that the new generation is really ready. The kids are ready. It’s the grown-ups that are slowing stuff down.”
