Queer teens coming out to their family and friends using TikTok and a 2014 Jason Derulo, and it’s unexpectedly heartwarming.
Young LGBT+ people have been uploading the TikToks using a snippet of the song “Get Ugly”, specifically the line: “Oh my oh my oh my God, this girl straight and this girl not.”
The clips show the queer teenagers pointing to their straight friend or family member and then to themselves, making for some cute, tearjerking and hilarious coming out moments.
While some loved ones took their big reveals completely in their stride and kept on dancing, other burst into happy tears.

Some TikTok-ers tried to use the song to tell their parents, but it didn’t quite go to plan. The mums of two queer teens were completely oblivious to the fact that their kids were trying to come out.
