RuPaul hotly tipped to follow in the foxtrot of Michelle Visage and appear on Strictly Come Dancing
RuPaul on Strictly Come Dancing? Can we get an amen?
The queen of drag has, for more than a decade, been sat behind the judges’ table of Drag Race, delivering sly shade and dramatically deciding the fate of performer’s futures on the show.
Now RuPaul could be going from judge to judged after being tipped to appear on British dance contest Strictly Come Dancing, at least, according to the bookies.
A Strictly insider told The Sun that two “huge stars” are in talks for the upcoming 2020 season, which producers hope will go as planned amid the coronavirus pandemic.
RuPaul tipped 5/1 to appear on Strictly Come Dancing.
Betting company Ladbrokes has set the odds of RuPaul being one of them and providing some seriously needed ballroom realness at 5/1, according to The Mirror.
It comes after fellow Drag Race judge Michelle Visage routinely brought the house down during her stint on the show, with iconic performances such as a couple’s dance to Madonna’s “Vogue”.
RuPaul is known to be a big fan of Strictly Come Dancing, and even made an appearance in the show in 2019 to show his support for Visage and her partner Giovanni Pernice Viennese during rehearsals.
She may have been eliminated by viewers, but to Visage, Strictly wasn’t about winning high scores, it was “about shedding light on a group of people who deserve recognition and would otherwise not get it”.
“I owe my life to the LGBT+ community so as an ally,” she wrote in a moving Instagram post at the time, “I try to bring attention to them, their love, their struggles, in any way the I am able to.”
We just hope Ru has enough glue for his wigs to stay in place during a Viennese Walz.
