A hilarious fan-made trailer for Call Me by Your Name 2 imagines what could happen if there’s a followup to the acclaim gay film.
YouTuber Benito Skinner, best known for his hilarious viral impression of Queer Eye‘s Antoni Porowski, put together the skit – slipping into the roles of both Armie Hammer as Oliver and Timothée Chalamet as Elio with aplomb.
Call Me by Your Name 2 skit sees Oliver cheat on his wife with Elio.
While Call Me by Your Name author André Aciman’s actual book sequel picks up long after the original story and sees the pair reconnect as adults, the fan-made sequel picks up a few years after the events of the film – with Elio still mopey and single, and Oliver now closeted and married to a woman, played by Skinner as Dakota Johnson.
The rom-com skit sees the two lovers rekindle their romance behind the back of Oliver’s wife, who seems ignorant to the whole thing, remarking on their “boys will be boys” affection and attempts to “save water” by having a bath together.
Unsurprisingly, the video was a hit with Call Me by Your Name fans. One wrote: “Lmao he actually nails Timothée’s chaotic nervous demeanour and Armie’s dialogue deliveries so well I’m shooketh.”
Another responded: “I needed answers after that movie. You gave them to me.”

A real-life sequel is still apparently on the way.
There have been rumblings for a while that an actual follow-up film could be on its way, with director Luca Guadagnino, Armie Hammer and Timothée Chalamet all very much up for returning – although James Ivory, who adapted Aciman’s original novel for the screen, has publicly trashed the follow-up project and said he would not play any part in it.
Earlier this month, Guadagnino said that both stars have signed up for the sequel in an interview with Italian magazine La Repubblica.
“Before coronavirus, I had a trip to the United States to meet a writer I love very much, whose name I don’t want to say, to talk about the second part,” Guadagnino said.
“Unfortunately, we had to cancel it. Of course, it is a great pleasure to work with Timothée Chalamet, Armie Hammer, Michael Stuhlbarg, Esther Garrel and the other actors.”
“Everyone will be in the new movie,” the Italian director confirmed.
Chalamet recently spoke out after learning that Crema, known as the picturesque real-world setting for the acclaimed gay film, had been horrifically impacted by coronavirus.
