Elton John pays heartfelt tribute to captain Tom Moore, the war veteran raising millions for the NHS

Elton John paid tribute to captain Tom Moore, a 99-year-old British war veteran who has raised more than £26 million for the National Health Service.
John took to Instagram Tuesday evening with a touching tribute to Moore, a retired World War Two army officer who set himself the target to walk 25 metres around his garden 100 times before his 100th birthday on April 30.
He beat this target by April 16 and his modest target of raising £1,000 was smashed.

“Tom Moore is an amazing man with a huge heart,” John wrote.
“What he has raised for the NHS is phenomenal and has inspired me to join the legions of other British citizens contributing to his fundraising efforts.
Captain Moore demonstrates a triumph of the human spirit and shows us all how one person can make a big difference.
John even paid his respects to Moore’s efforts to score a number one single – a feat all too common for John – after his charity single, “You’ll Never Walk Alone” with Michael Ball and the NHS Voices of Care Choir, became the week’s biggest trending song on Tuesday.
All proceeds from the track will be donated to NHS Charities Together to support the incredible NHS staff and volunteers caring for COVID-19 patients.

For residents in the red-bricked village of Marston Moretaine, England, the sight of Moore clicking along with his zimmer frame is a regular sight.
But as media attention zoomed in on the resident’s fundraiser, Moore has emerged in this moment of paranoia and panic as a symbol of the resilience of Britons refusing to crumble in a time of crisis.
“I am still amazed by the amount of kindness and generosity from the UK public who continue to give despite it being an uncertain time for many,” Moore said in a statement last Saturday.
