The Schitt’s Creek cast is already reuniting to raise money for frontline healthcare workers

Schitt’s Creek may have come to an end, but the cast will be reuniting this Sunday (April 26) for a coronavirus television special in support of frontline healthcare workers.

Stronger Together, Tous Ensemble will air on CBC in Canada this Sunday at 6.30pm and will feature a mix of music, messages and more from a variety of stars.

The entire Schitt’s Creek cast will reunite for the broadcast, which will also see the likes of Avril Lavigne, Justin Bieber take to their screens.

The reunion was confirmed on Twitter by Schitt’s Creek co-creator and star Dan Levy. He shared a picture of his computer screen, showing a video call with the cast.

“Gang’s all here for a very good cause!” Levy wrote.

The commercial-free, 90-minute special is being aired in support of frontline healthcare workers during the coronavirus pandemic, and those at home who can afford to do so are being asked to donate to Food Banks Canada.

It is not yet clear what the Schitt’s Creek cast will be doing to keep people entertained during the coronavirus pandemic, but it can surely only be magical.

The reunion comes just weeks after the show aired its last ever episode, which saw David Rose marry his boyfriend Patrick.

Schitt’s Creek won critical acclaim during its six-season run.

The heartfelt series has been widely praised for its groundbreaking approach to same-sex relationships, and Levy himself has said that the fictional town is a place where homophobia simply doesn’t exist.

While the show has come to an end, it may not be the end of the road for the Rose family.

In an interview with Variety earlier this month, Levy said they are keeping the door open for a reboot.

“If an idea crosses my path that I feel is deserving of our cast’s time, then let’s do it,” he said.

He said that right now, he isn’t sure what that story “could possibly be”.

“But I would love to revisit these characters, and I would love to get to play with this cast again.”

Schitt’s Creek season six will be released on Netflix on May 14 and Netflix US at a later date.
