‘Evil’ predator asked a guy in a gay bar to share a taxi home. He’d go on to drug and sexually assault him in his own home

An “evil” predator who drugged and sexually assaulted a man in his own home after they shared a taxi together has been jailed for eight years in London.
The incident occurred on March 24 2019 when Carol Simon, 45, approached his victim outside The City of Quebec pub on Old Quebec Street in Westminster.
Simon asked his victim, who is in his 50s, if he would like to share a taxi home. When the taxi stopped at the victim’s address, Simon invited himself in for a drink.
Carol Simon drugged, sexually assaulted and stole from his victim in London last year.
When inside, Simon drugged the man and sexually assaulted him, before stealing his wallet, watch and phone.
The victim reported the crime to police and they were able to track Simon down through his DNA. He was arrested on April 4 2019 at the same pub where he first found his victim.
Simon had clearly set out that night to harm someone for his cowardly gain, his actions were completely evil and he will never know the trauma he has caused.
When Simon was arrested, police discovered a small bottle of liquid on his person. Simon claimed that the bottle was just eye-drops, but testing revealed that it was actually Diazepam.
Simon was charged and pleaded guilty to sexual assault, administering a substance with intent to overpower to allow sexual activity, possession of class C drugs and theft.
He was handed an eight year prison sentence at Isleworth Crown Court last week.
During an appearance at Isleworth Crown Court last week (April 22), Simon was sentenced to eight years and five months in prison.
“The victim has been incredibly brave throughout this ordeal and it is because of his courage that Simon is behind bars where he belongs,” said detective constable Sophie McLoughlin.
“Simon had clearly set out that night to harm someone for his cowardly gain, his actions were completely evil and he will never know the trauma he has caused.
“We encourage anyone who has been a victim of sexual assault to come forward and speak to us, we will support you,” she added.
