Britney Spears wants to start a family with boyfriend Sam Asghari but her father put a stop to it
Britney Spears told judges she wanted to start a family with her boyfriend Sam Asghari, but her father reportedly stymied them in 2019.
The 38-year-old “…Baby One More Time” hitmaker wanted to have a baby with her partner of more than three years, she told courts.
But in the throes of her public breakdown in 2008, she was catapulted into a legally-mandated conservatorship with her father, Jamie Spears, as her legal guardian.
As he was against the move, a source told UsWeekly, Spears’ hopes to have children with the 26-year-old model were allegedly ground to a halt.
Britney Spears and her boyfriend were ready to become parents, but her father put a stop to it, source claims.
The insider claimed: “Britney told the probate investigator late last year she wanted to have a baby.
“Her dad [Jamie] had always been against Britney getting pregnant.”
The musician is a mother of two to 14-year-old Preston and 13-year-old Jayden, whom she welcomed during her marriage to Kevin Federline.
Why does Britney Spears’ father have final say?
Spears’ career saw a dramatic shift around 2007 and 2008 as she became roiled by alcohol, drugs and a rash of erratic behaviour – psychiatric evaluations ensued.
This ultimately led to courts handing down a conservatorship order, known as a guardianship in some states, which is usually done for those courts deem unable to take care of themselves. As a result, Spears’ father was placed as primary conservator.
Jamie has been in charge of Spears’ finances and overall physical and mental health since then. He was, until recently, joined by lawyer Andrew Wallet in being co-conservators.
While Spears requested for judges to consider ending her conservatorship in 2019, her petition to end the conservatorship was dealt a blow last week as the court authorised Jodi Montgomery, her manager, to remain as conservator until August 22.
Montgomery handles Spears’ personal affairs, acting as her care manager.
