Emperor of queer TV Ryan Murphy confirms he’s ‘working on’ bringing back his campest show of all: Scream Queens
Scream Queens season 3 might be headed for Netflix, Ryan Murphy said three years after the slasher comedy was cancelled by Fox.
Scream Queens debuted in 2105, with Emma Roberts, Ariana Grande, Billie Lourd and Abigail Breslin leading as a pack of sorority girls who find themselves targeted by a serial killer.
The series boasted a ridiculously talented cast. As well as the above, Jamie Lee Curtis starred as a villainous college dean, with Lea Michele as an unpopular, unhinged pledge and a pre-hustlers Keke Palmer as sorority president.
Originally envisioned as an anthology, the show returned for a second season with its main characters transplanted into a hospital – with middling results that translated into less than stellar ratings.
Scream Queens was cancelled in May 2017, but has remained a cult favourite ever since, with fans regularly pestering Murphy about the status of a follow-up.
The TV supremo’s new Netflix deal sparked renewed interest in the series, and now it appears that fans’ wishes might be about to come true.
Scream Queens season 3 was apparently confirmed by Murphy on Instagram.
Replying to a call for the show to be revived on Netflix, he wrote simply: “Working on that!”

Eagle-eyed followers noticed that Murphy has begun following Ariana Grande – one of just three people he now follows – suggesting she could be on board for the revival.

Scream Queens season 3 could bring original cast to Netflix.
Murphy had previously mused on what Scream Queens season 3 could look like, and revealed that he’d discussed bringing the horror-comedy back with three of the main cast members.
“So many people recently have been asking me about rebooting or continuing SCREAM QUEENS (RIP, taken too soon),” he wrote on Instagram in December.
“Emma, Billie, Lea and I have mused on it, but question: should it be a six episode limited? A catch up movie? Who should I bring back? Would love your thoughts. So many questions….”
Netflix is yet to confirm Scream Queens season 3. The streamer recently dropped Hollywood, Murphy’s reimagined history of the Golden Age of Tinseltown, starring an alternate Rock Hudson.
