This non-binary dominatrix is virtually humiliating clients on Animal Crossing and accepting bells as payment

A non-binary dominatrix has been using Animal Crossing: New Horizons to humiliate clients during lockdown, beating them with a butterfly net, locking them in cages and accepting bells as payment.

Denali Winter is a hairdresser and dominatrix based in San Francisco, California, who has been getting creative with the Nintendo Switch game that was released in March and has taken the world by storm during the coronavirus pandemic.

Winter told The Guardian that when lockdown went into effect they knew that their sex work, which they have been doing for seven years, would be severely impacted.

They said: “Sex workers are always adapting, and this is just another layer of adaptation. I need to connect with my clients somehow.”

Winter advertises their services through Twitter, and in the game they force clients to water their flowers and pay them bells, the Animal Crossing currency.

If they disobey, they can be beaten with a butterfly net or locked in a virtual cage.

The dominatrix encourages clients to leave (appropriate) notes on their bulletin board, and on wrote: “Thank you so much for allowing me to serve you, mistress.

“It is always such a fulfilling task to do your chores and there is nothing else I’d like to do more.”

Winter added that as a non-binary sex worker, many of their clients are interested in exploring their sexuality and playing with gender expression.

Animal Crossing allows Winter’s clients to experiment with clothing as style regardless of gender, which they said is often a more accessible way to explore than in real life.

They said: “Video games have been a way for people to explore their identity for a long time.

“This venue has attracted a lot of young gamers who want to dip their toes into getting dominated.

“It’s completely safe to submit to someone in an Animal Crossing game – if you don’t like it, you can log off at any moment.”
