Former human rights commissioner who called gay people an ‘abomination to the human race’ arrested for domestic assault

Former human rights commissioner Kenick El, who said that gay people were an “abomination to the human race” and that trans women were “men in dresses”, has been arrested on a domestic assault charge.
LaKendrick Coburn El – also known as Kenick El – was a human rights commissioner in Virginia, but was forced to resign last year when he attacked the LGBT+ community via social media.
In one of the Facebook posts, El urged people to “stop promoting sexuality to our children”.
“Two men or two women together is an abomination according to my faith,” he continued.
“I’m not with the passive agenda turning a blind eye. I’m not with the secret agenda. Stop promoting your sexual behaviour expecting special treatment based on who you’re having sex with.”
In another post, he shared an article about a trans woman convicted of sexually assaulting a child and wrote: “This is why we need to stop giving men in dresses passes.
“I have daughters and I won’t accept them sharing a restroom with a grown man suffering from this mental illness… Homosexuality is an abomination to the human race.”
Now, El, 35, has been arrested and charged with simple assault and battery of a family member, his second assault charge within a year, according to Queerty.
Police were called to the former human rights commissioner’s home at 12.20 am on Tuesday morning, and although the victim’s relationship to El has not been specified, she reportedly said he slapped her and knocked her turban off.
He was originally booked into the Virginia Beach Correctional Center but was released after a few hours on a $5,000 bond. His trial will take place on August 3.
In February, another woman claimed he grabbed a “headdress” from her head and tore it. His court dates for that charge has been set as May 28.
Court documents indicate that he plans to deny the charges and represent himself in both cases.
