‘Well known’ porn performer arrested in raid on online child abuse ring

A 20-year-old OnlyFans star in Sydney has been arrested on suspicion of being part of an online child abuse network.
IT worker Alec McGeary has been described as “well-known” on the Sydney LGBT+ scene, having moved there from Tasmania early last year, and was a prolific poster on OnlyFans.
OnlyFans is a social media platform where influencers are free to post whatever content they like – from softcore to X-rated – with fans able to pay for the privilege.
McGeary was arrested at his home in in Botany, Sydney, on Wednesday, May 20, in an Australian Federal Police (AFP) raid, according to the Star Observer.
He was charged with possessing or controlling child abuse material by using a carriage service to access child abuse material. The allegations of child sex abuse against McGeary did not take place on the OnlyFans platform or through his Only Fans account.
AFP’s New South Wales Child Protection Operations team, the New South Wales Police Force’s Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad and the Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation searched his home and seized his electronics for evidence. Eleven videos were allegedly found on the devices.
McGeary was jailed overnight, and appeared in court via video link the next day.
He has few ties in New South Wales, and so although he was granted conditional bail, magistrate Philip Stewart said McGeary’s mother must pay a $2,000 (£1,077) surety to made sure that he did not leave the state.
Stewart said there were “significant” concerns about releasing him on bail, and part of his bail conditions include being banned from using the internet.
The magistrate added that the case against the OnlyFans star was “overwhelmingly strong” based on both evidence and the defendant’s admissions.
The investigation into the child abuse ring began in February, 2020, after Australian authorities were tipped off by the United States’ National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).
Since then, there have been multiple charges against Australians involved in the network.
McGeary is set to return to court on July 22.
