Ian McKellen channels Gandalf while sipping red wine in teaser for major new Lord of the Rings reunion
A Lord of the Rings reunion starring Sir Ian McKellen, Elijah Wood and all the main cast members is about to bless fantasy fans.
The Fellowship of the Ring will be reuniting virtually for a special lockdown episode of Josh Gad’s Reunited Apart YouTube show on Sunday.
A trailer for the upcoming special saw Elijah Wood and his fellow hobbits on a video call discussing whether to bring back the cast for one last time.
“I wish this choice had never come to me… I wish none of this had happened,” Elijah said, echoing his old lines.
The chat is suddenly interrupted by the familiar rumbling timbre of Sir Ian McKellen, who just couldn’t resist dropping in Gandalf the Grey’s most iconic quote.
“So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All that we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.”
Who could possibly refuse?
Lord of the Rings cast reunion sends fans into a frenzy.
Along with McKellen and Wood, the keenly-anticipated Lord of the Rings reunion will be joined by Dominic Monaghan, Sean Astin, Billy Boyd, Orlando Bloom, Dominic Monaghan, Sean Astin, Billy Boyd and Peter Jackson.
Andy Serkis, Karl Urban, Viggo Mortensen, Mirando Otto, John Rhys-Davies, Sean Bean and Liv Tyler will also make appearances.
The teaser clip alone was enough to get fans in a frenzy, and the full episode might just break the internet.
“I gasped when I saw the video. Stupidest smile on my face when I saw Elijah. Burst into tears when Billy got on. Full-on sobbing once Ian said his lines,” one fan wrote.
“Pretty sure my heart is going to explode. Already teared up watching the trailer,” another said.
Gad’s The Lord of the Rings reunion special, ‘Return of the Kings’, will premiere on his YouTube channel this Sunday at 5pm UK time.
