One of Detox’s most iconic Drag Race serves is being co-opted as an unofficial new slogan for Joe Biden’s campaign

Drag Race royalty Detox has had one of her most iconic Drag Race moments co-opted – unofficially — by Joe Biden supporters.
No, the time she peed on stage. Nor has Biden suggested a “Malambo No. 1” lip sync for the presidency against Donald Trump – though we’d all pay good money to see that.
Rather, it’s Detox’s iconic “Read U Wrote U” verse that has been co-opted by Biden supporters — at least, according to this viral tweet that the Drag Race icon shared Tuesday (June 9).

“I am saying I’m the best but I ain’t the worst,” pretty much sums up Biden’s campaign to date, the tweet suggested.
Though others thought “You can’t stand me, I don’t blame you” might be more apt.

Joe Biden’s presidential campaign has been marred by criticism from the left of the Democratic Party, who were hopeful that a more progressive candidate would have been chosen for the nomination.
His campaign has also been dogged by sexual assault allegations, which he has vehemently denied.
The former vice president to Barack Obama lost favour among Black voters in May, when he claimed those who were considering voting for Trump “ain’t Black”.
He later walked back the “cavalier comment” amid widespread outrage, and in the wake of George Floyd’s killing, has recommitted to healing “the racial wounds that have long plagued this country”. He has stopped short of calling for the police to be defunded.
Though Biden’s troubles are many, they pale in comparison to Trump’s own history of sexually violent language, outrightly racist rhetoric and anti-LGBT+ actions.
The consensus among liberals, anti-racists and the LGBT+ community is, therefore, that there is an overwhelmingly obvious choice for November’s election:

The Human Rights Campaign – America’s largest LGBT+ rights organisation – is one of many to have endorsed Biden.
In its endorsement, the group cited Biden’s record in support of equality as vice president, and his extensive LGBT+ policy plan for the 2020 race.
HRC President Alphonso David said: “Vice president Joe Biden is the leader our community and our country need at this moment.
“His dedication to advancing LGBTQ equality, even when it was unpopular to do so, has pushed our country and our movement forward.”
