Gay pundit Darren Grimes is really, really upset he can’t watch Little Britain’s abhorrent Blackface on the BBC anymore

Gay right-wing pundit Darren Grimes is really, really upset that the BBC has removed Little Britain from the iPlayer because of its abhorrent use of Blackface.
The BBC confirmed to the Daily Mail yesterday (June 9) that the show, alongside the pair’s other series Come Fly With Me, was stripped from BBC iPlayer due to its use of Blackface.
And it’s safe to say that Grimes is not impressed. The conservative commentator posted a furious, three-minute long video to Twitter yesterday where he lashed out at the BBC for – *checks notes* – standing up against racism.
In the video, Grimes lashed out at protesters in Bristol for tearing down a statue of slave owner Edward Colston, and linked that historic moment to the BBC’s decision to remove Little Britain from its streaming platform.
“What’s gonna happen next?” Grimes said. “Are they going to come for books now?”
Darren Grimes is heartbroken Little Britain has been removed from streaming platforms.
He continued: “At that point, we start to look like a fundamentally different society, and I think this is really such a slippery slope that we find ourselves on the minute.”
Grimes said the removal of Little Britain – which even creator Matt Lucas has admitted is “cruel” – has “quite a chilling effect on who we are on our past” and “everything that we used to be about”.
“Millions of people used to watch Little Britain and enjoy Little Britain, not all of them mindless bigoted racists, which is what the implication of deleting it says,” Grimes added.
Again, it’s chilling – so chilling – that a broadcaster that I’m forced to pay for, with the threat of prison, is trying to curate history to meet the standards of our ultra-woke activists.
“I think in making its decision to delete Little Britain as well as its brazenly sympathetic reporting of the protests, at what point do we stand up and admit that the BBC has made itself the propaganda wing of those protesters that are illegally removing statues and assaulting our coppers?”
He added: “I mean, I used to find Little Britain hilarious, but comedy has moved on, and that’s absolutely fine. But I don’t see why the BBC has to now erase it from history.
“Again, it’s chilling – so chilling – that a broadcaster that I’m forced to pay for, with the threat of prison, is trying to curate history to meet the standards of our ultra-woke activists.”
He wants the licence fee scrapped after the broadcaster stood up against racism.
Grimes told his followers that they should stand up for their own “sodding money”. He insisted that the licence fee should be scrapped and the BBC consigned to the scrap heap because of the broadcaster’s decision to censor Blackface.
“Let’s get real. This is terrifying. We need to stop paying for the BBC and our politicians ought to stand up against this madness and stop pandering to those committing crimes and those trying to rewrite history. It’s a terrifying assault on our history and our minds.”
A BBC spokesperson told the Daily Mail yesterday: “There’s a lot of historical programming available on BBC iPlayer, which we regularly review.
“Times have changed since Little Britain first aired so it is not currently available on BBC iPlayer.”
