Spanish star Pablo Alborán just came out as gay in a heartwarming video: ‘I’m going to be a little happier than I already am’

Pablo Alborán comes out gay

Spanish singer Pablo Alborán has said he is “a little happier” after coming out as gay in a heartfelt Instagram video.

Alborán posted the three-minute long video to Instagram yesterday with the caption: “I have something to tell you.”

The singer-songwriter reflected on the impact of the coronavirus pandemic in the video, and said the difficult period had inspired him to open up about his personal life.

“I think that we often forget the love that unites us, that makes us stronger and better humans,” Alborán said.

“Today, from that love, I have the need to share something very personal.

“I have always fought against every manifestation that prohibits… any freedom or equality. From racism, sexism, xenophobia, transphobia, homophobia, and any other type of hatred.

“Today, I want my voice to be louder and for it to have more value and weight.

“I am here to tell you I am homosexual, and it is OK. Life goes on, everything will remain the same, but I am going to be a little happier than I already am.”

Pablo Alborán wants to make life easier for other LGBT+ people by coming out.

The 31-year-old said many people “suspect, know, or just don’t care” about his sexuality and praised his parents for supporting him and giving him the freedom to be himself.

“In my work, in Warner my label, and among my friends, I never felt discriminated, hated or had a sense of letting anybody down for being myself,” he added.

“But unfortunately, there are so many people that did not have the same experience I did. That is precisely why today, with no fear, I hope I can make somebody’s journey easier with this message. But above all that, I do this for me.

I am here to tell you I am homosexual, and it is OK. Life goes on, everything will remain the same, but I am going to be a little happier than I already am.

He continued: “I want to be coherent, consistent, 100 per cent true to myself. I will still concentrate my public life to my music. I will make the most out of my craft, with all I have, and with an absolute respect to my job and my fans.”

Alborán closed out the emotional video by thanking his fans for their “unconditional support”.

Ricky Martin congratulated him on the momentous occasion.

He was congratulated by the gay “Livin La Vida Loca” singer Ricky Martin in the comments, who praised his courage.

“Many souls go through this life without coming to accept their nature, and that is sad,” Martin commented.

“You have already won that battle. How lucky you are.”

He added: “You don’t know how many men and women you have helped with this video. How happy I feel for you.”
