Modern Family star Jesse Tyler Ferguson and his husband Justin Mikita have become proud parents to a baby boy.
A representative for Ferguson confirmed the news to People on Thursday (July 9).
“Jesse and Justin welcomed their little bundle of joy Beckett Mercer-Ferguson-Mikita on July 7, 2020,” the representative said.
“The new parents are overjoyed and excited for this new journey as a family of three.”
Ferguson first announced that he and his husband were expecting a baby in January of this year during an appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden.
When Corden asked Ferguson if turning 40 had been “a big deal… psychologically”, the actor said: “You know what it is? It’s like you said, it’s when you finally become an adult, I feel like I need to start getting serious about things.”
“This is something I haven’t even mentioned to anyone, if we can keep it between the three of us and you all,” he joked.
“But I’m actually expecting a baby in July with my husband.”
When Corden asked Ferguson if they were having a boy or a girl, the Modern Family star told him they were having “a human”.

Jesse Tyler Ferguson came to prominence for his long-running role as Mitc in the hit sitcom, which concluded in April after an 11-season run.
Mitch and his partner Cam adopted a child in the series, earning Modern Family plaudits. It was also lauded by the LGBT+ community in 2016 when a trans actor was cast in a trans role.
Speaking ahead of the series finale in April, Ferguson said he hoped Mitch and Cam’s groundbreaking relationship would continue to inspire.
The star – who was nominated for five Emmy Awards during the show’s run – told The View: “I hope that the show doesn’t live in a time capsule.
“I hope that [Mitch and Cam] will always be a relatable couple for all people.
“When I was a young, gay kid in Albuquerque, New Mexico, I didn’t turn on the TV and see anything on the television that reflected what I hoped to be.
“I hope that this relationship on television now will be that for a lot of kids who can turn on the television [and] say: ‘Yes I can marry whoever I want to marry and have a family with them and experience the same ups and downs of being a new parent that my parents did’.”
