Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez just decreed her RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 5 faves and the taste truly leapt out
It’s no secret that Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a major fan of RuPaul’s Drag Race, and now she’s just decreed her All Stars 5 faves and yes, they are all being written into law.
Yes, to say you are not a stan of Shea Couleé or Jujubee is now punishable with three lifetimes in prison. Sorry, reader, we do not make the rules.
Obviously, we are kidding here (maybe) but the representative for New York’s 14th congressional district, who graced the pink and red panelled judge’s table earlier this year, revealed her piping hot take on the current VH1 season Wednesday morning (14 July).
Gay journalist Evan Katz did the Lord’s work by direct messaging Ocasio-Cortez over Instagram, who proceeded to serve “up a congressional readout in response,” Katz wrote in an Instagram caption.
“I’m floored.”
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: ‘Jujubee has cemented herself as one of the most charismatic queens in RPRDR history.’
“Shea and Jujubee,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote in her reply, which will likely be read during her inauguration speech in 2024.
“Shea has just come in on another level fashion-wise and her performances have been really strong. She came in as one of the most prepared, and with a sky-high taste level.
“That Nubian runway with the stoned bodysuit? I was finished!”
Couleé, a queen of drag who first competed on season nine of RuPaul’s Drag Race, has won two challenges so far this season. But even off the catwalk, she has continued to cement herself as a lodestar in the drag scene.
The legend once shared a disturbing account of being asked to dress “as a slave” for a Black History Month drag performance by queen T Rex. During a video call on Twitch in June, she confronted T Rex about the comments at a time when America and the world are grappling with systemic and violent racism.
Couleé isn’t the only drag royalty that has Ocasio-Cortez’s blessing.
“Jujubee has cemented herself as one of the most charismatic, funny queens in RPRDR history,” she continued, “POINTS WERE MADE.
“You know a queen is on another level charismatically when she comes on the show for the 3rd time and STILL hasn’t learned to sew yet [and] for some reason we’re not mad at all.
“Every time she is on screen you just want to see and hear more of her. True sign of an entertainer.”
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, shantay you stay.
