TikToker goes viral for suggesting ultimate Bachelorette improvement – an undercover gay spy

The Bachelorette undercover gay

A TikToker has gone viral for suggesting the ultimate improvement to reality dating show The Bachelorette – an undercover gay spy.

The Bachelorette, a spin-off of The Bachelor, revolves around a single woman who must choose a husband from a group of around 25 men.

The US reality dating show has run for 15 seasons, but now one TikToker has come up with an idea to make The Bachelorette “a lot better”.

TikTok creator @luke_at_me_now posted a video in which he said: “Okay, I have a concept that I think would make The Bachelorette a lot better, and that is an undercover gay.

“Pretty much you have a gay guy and none of the straight guys know that he’s gay.

“You keep him on until like top five, and he just warns the girl about the guys in the house.

“He can give his opinion without there being a conflict of interest. You know, they go on their one-on-ones, they go to brunch, they have a nice, lovely time.

“And she’s like: ‘You know, everyone’s been saying this dude is whack.’ And the guy would be like: ‘Yeah bro that guy is f**king whack. Don’t do it.’ You know, like that kind of thing.”

Branded a “genius” by TikTok commenters, 21-year-old Luke was quick to clarify that he was putting himself forward as the first “undercover gay” on The Bachelorette.

“And I know what you’re thinking and the answer is yes, I would want to be the first one on the show,” he said. “You’re probably like: ‘How are you going to do that?’ Okay, I’ll show you.”

Asking viewers to “pretend” they can’t see his teal painted nails, the TikToker put a backwards baseball cap, slumped his posture and said in a deep voice: “She so hot… so hot. Like, literally so like… such an enunciated body.”

Luke’s TikTok has had 120,000 likes in just five days, and has even drawn in new viewers.

When the video was posted on Reddit, one person wrote: “I would actually watch The Bachelorette if this happened.”

However, some commenters pointed out a potential problem with the “undercover gay” concept.

One wrote: “It’s a cool idea but every season after you implemented it would turn into a homophobic Salem Witch Trial situation.”

“They’d all have to pretend to not be homophobic about it,” said another. “They’d be all like ‘I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH GAY PEOPLE. SOME OF MY BEST FRIENDS ARE GAY.

“I HUGGED A GUY ONCE. I JUST THINK HES NOT HERE FOR THE RIGHT REASONS AND UHHH YEAH HONESTY IS IMPORTANT AND UHHH I DON’T WANT HIM TO SEE ME NAKED?!?!”

But others said this was “all the more reason to do it”, as it would “weed out the toxic homophobes who hate being held accountable”.

A Reddit commenter added: “The first guy to figure him out, keep it a secret, be totally cool with it, and make friends with him has the inside track and would be the instant clear favourite.”
