Caitlyn Jenner gets sentimental reflecting on Keeping Up with the Kardashians after hearing about show’s end ‘on the news’
Caitlyn Jenner reflected on Keeping Up with the Kardashians, which is ending next year, after she heard about its cancellation “on the news”.
Keeping Up with the Kardashians will draw to a close in 2021, the family confirmed Wednesday (September 9), after 14 years and 20 seasons.
“This show made us who we are and I will be forever in debt to everyone who played a role in shaping our careers and changing our lives forever,” Kim Kardashian West said in a statement.
News of the show’s cancellation shocked fans around the world — including its former star, Caitlyn Jenner.
The 70-year-old — who was a regular on the cast throughout its first 10 seasons — revealed that she heard “on the news”.
“Nobody called me, I heard it through the media,” she told Australia’s The Morning Show. “Was I surprised? No.”
Caitlyn’s relationship with the Kardashian siblings Kourtney, Kim, Khloe and Rob has reportedly suffered since her split from Kris Jenner and the release of her tell-all memoir — though she remains in contact with her children Kendall and Kylie Jenner.
“I don’t know the inner workings of all the family, but I know all of the kids have moved on into their own areas,” she added.
Jenner had nothing but praise for Keeping Up with the Kardashians, however.
“It’s probably the greatest reality show in history,” she said.
“The girls and Kris have done just an amazing job… But everybody is in a different place and I think it’s time to move on. But what a run.”
Days before the Kardashians made their announcement, Jenner shared a video of herself watching clips from the series.
“I have the best home movies,” she said, acknowledging that the family’s busy schedules and alluding to the rift that has apparently grown.
“You don’t see them as much as you used to, and every parent goes through this… It’s always kind of tough on a parent.
“I got a little sentimental and started watching some of these old clips of my old life. And sometimes I think now it’s kind of nice that it’s so quiet around here.”
