Elton John receives highest conceivable honour in the known universe – a Barbie made after him
Elton John has been blessed with the highest honour in the universe – a Barbie doll made in his honour.
The legendary pop star has collaborated with the makers of Barbie to create a doll that replicates his famous style.
The Elton John Barbie doll dons a bomber jacket that bears his name along with striking rainbow colours, as well as flared trousers and platform rainbow-coloured heels.
The Barbie doll also bears a purple bowler hat and pink sunglasses, capturing Elton John’s most immediately recognisable looks.
New Elton John Barbie doll is inspired by the singer’s classic looks.
“I have always loved and embraced fashion as a means of self-expression,” John told PEOPLE.
“My earliest memories of Barbie all involve fashion and even today, she still inspires our culture, not only fashion but in art and music too. Her legacy, I’m sure, will carry on forever.”
The pop star, 73, said he was heavily involved in selecting the Elton John Barbie’s wardrobe, and that he particularly enjoyed picking her sunglasses.
“I’ve managed to accumulate quite the collection of sunglasses over the years – I think over twenty thousand pairs,” John said.
“When working with Barbie to create her head to toe look, I took inspiration from all of my favourite pairs I have worn over the years, and envisioned a Barbie pink with a bit of my flare. I think we nailed the final look.”

The doll will be sold on Barbie.com, as well as by other retailers like Walmart, Amazon and Target.
The “Rocketman” singer has been keeping busy as of late. In a recent interview with BBC Radio 6 Music, he revealed that he has spent lockdown “finishing off a couple of musicals” that he had been working on.
He also said he has lyrics from longtime collaborator Bernie Taupin, but he has “no interest in being Elton at the minute”, saying he has been focusing on working with other people.
John also revealed in a recent Instagram Live video with Teyana Taylor that he isn’t enamoured by modern-day music videos, saying they lack “class”.
“They are what they are,” he said, before saying that his new music video with the singer was the “Rolls-Royce of videos”.
